Digital evidence managment system

Image TraQ is a single secure, easily-searched repository for the growing volume of digital evidence—still images, videos, and voice recording.  It removes from the property room the burden of storing, managing, and copying CD/DVDs and replaces the cumbersome and hard to access storage of files on less than secure servers.  Because it is a totally browser based application, users can upload and work on any PC on the agency’s network.  QueTel’s upload utility is easier and faster than any on the market and the system simplifies security and restrictions on access.

Law enforcement agencies can be overwhelmed by the deluge of digital evidence that comes from arming officers with still image cameras and in-car video cameras much less retail and other surveillance videos, and now wearable video cameras.  The means many agencies resort to include burning digital files on CDs or DVDs; uploading them to hard disk directories; or using a facility of their RMS.  Finding and working with digital evidence is labor intensive and inconvenient.  More importantly they lack important security and authenticity checks.
As a solution to these shortcomings, Image TraQ is designed to be both a front end for direct upload from the original capture equipment and a secure repository of all digital files of evidentiary value.
As a browser application, Image TraQ makes upload images and video as easy as on-line purchasing.  Still cameras, digital surveillance files, and wearable camera files upload in seconds, even megabyte files.  The upload captures key metadata from the source file; the officer can enter identifying descriptors, which will include incident, location, and specific notation on each file.  As overheard during a product demonstration:   “You can see that this was designed by cops . . . it’s so easy to use.  The other systems we’ve seen were not designed by law enforcement.”

Security and authenticity begins with log on.  It integrates with Active Directory to simplify IT management.  At upload files are checked that they are original.  Users and administrators can restrict access to each file.  The original file may be copied but is never allowed to be changed.  The system keeps a chain of custody records each person who accesses a file and a record of every person who logs on to it and what they did.

Authorized users can access files for viewing from anywhere on the system or via the Web if authorized, e.g. for prosecutors.  They may calibrate impressions, copy, print, enhance, and download images from the repository.
