The Total Solution

more than a simple asset system. You can follow asset movement

from data fields to standard report formats to screen formats
based on your procedures and needs.
The Hardware
Asset ID™ is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
system. The system's cornerstone is a tag that is inserted
on the motherboard of new IBM com?puters. This tag contains
the latest configuration information of the PC - serial
number, model, memory boards, etc. - and is automatically
updated on boot up. Through the use of technologies developed
by HID Corporation (an RF reader, the
AMH100) and Symbol Technologies (a portable data terminal
- PDT 6100), a customer can read the data contained on that
tag without ever opening the carton.
The Process
The RF Reader collects the information from the tag wirelessly
and transmits it to the handheld, which allows transport
and upload to a PC. Communication with the Asset ID™
tag is not limited to one direction, it is a read AND write
process. A user can enter relevant information about the
PC (i.e. user name, type, asset tracking data) into user-defined
editable fields in the database, download the database to
the handheld and then transfer that data back to the Asset
ID™ tag.
The Software
Standing behind the portable terminal and RF reader, are
software products from QueTel, including its Qremote communications
terminal, and its powerful asset management system, Asset
TraQ. Embedded within the Asset TraQ software is data collection
software for the handheld (PDT) and an ability to download
that program to the PDT. This program allows the PDT to
receive and interpret the information contained on the Asset
ID™ tag via the RF Reader. This data is then uploaded
into the Asset TraQ program, distributing data to the relevant
fields. QueTel affords you the ability to take the Asset
ID™ tag data and put it to use. Asset Traq offers
easy data entry facilities, lookup tables assuring valid
field entries, quick data access for reports and queries,
inventory capability, Audit Trail, and the ability for customization
to your specific needs.
